Ah as soon as you said oranges 🍊 I thought soller! I will hopefully be on that same train next week on my attempt at making mallorca an annual pilgrimage destination..
Last year I made the journey in snow- as part of my ability to attract a “severe weather warning” in a seemingly benign Mediterranean place..
I’ve gone to in search of sun.
Fingers crossed it will just be warmer and sunnier than the UK.
Ah, how exciting Rachel! Hope it all ran smoothly and that Storm Kathleen didn’t interfere with your travel plans. Love that you’re aiming to make an annual pilgrimage there. 🍊 x
Isn’t it funny that even through the hassle and stress of travel we inherently know we should, you perfectly capture the memory making and the journey of being somewhere other. Your Dad is in the know! Beautifully written. Thank you also for the shout out. Xx
Yes! The push and the pull of it all. I’ve been thinking about the way that our lives are so geared for comfort now, and travel often strips that away. x
This was vividly written. The sentiment is beautiful as well and has moved me. I love thinking about you adventuring with your family, especially after reading what you wrote about your father. What a cool thing he said to you when you were a kid. So true.
Oh such a beautifully written piece Christina! Perhaps the almond blossom in Costa Blanca might tempt your father next year - January/February - such a welcome respite from our grim winter. And thank you for the shout out for my Lisbon piece. I’m
In good company indeed with Bel’s and Ruth’s exquisite writing 🥰
It's certainly tempting me! I understand now why my grandparents upped sticks and took off to Tenerife every winter. The farm is on a hill and very exposed to the elements. It sounds like you've been getting hit hard in the south this year too. Drier days must surely lie ahead.
Jeez I hope so, it’s coming on for nearly three months of virtually solid rain. The ground can’t take anymore. A campervan spent in the Spanish winter feels super attractive right now.
I hope you realize that you are a great writer.
So kind 🙏🏻
Love this 😂 steer clear of the soggy van! I'm so excited for your Mallorcan adventure!
While I’m in my soggy kitchen. 😅
